Taylor Swift to Close Academy Museum Gala in Surprise Performance Days Before Chiefs Showdown
Pop superstar Taylor Swift is about to own Hollywood for one night — and the timing could not be more perfect.
Swift will close out the Academy Museum Gala on October 17 with a live performance, museum director Amy Homma announced this week. The annual star-studded fundraiser will honor Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and director John Carpenter, with proceeds supporting the museum and its programs.
The date is no accident for the Swift-Kelce household. Just one day later, on October 18, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs return from their bye week to face the Los Angeles Chargers. It is the couple’s first NFL season as a married pair, and all eyes will be on whether Swift makes it from the gala stage to the stadium stands.
The newlyweds have been making the most of the bye week. Kelce turned 37 on October 5, celebrating with a color-coordinated date night in New York alongside Swift, followed by dinner at Torrisi, one of his favorite restaurants. On his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce admitted the best birthday gift was a Chiefs win over the Raiders the day before, joking that a loss would have ruined the whole day.
Swift, meanwhile, is riding a chart wave. Her new single “Patient Zero” just debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 — her 16th chart-topper and her fourth number one of 2026 — with three more new songs landing in the Top 5. Between a gala headline slot and a history-making music year, Mrs. Kelce is not slowing down anytime soon.
