Commanders Coach Dan Quinn Forced to Address Viral Lip-Reading Moment

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has been forced to address a viral clip that appeared to show him not knowing it was fourth down during the loss to the 49ers.

ESPN cameras caught Quinn on the sideline apparently muttering in confusion as the offense came off the field, and the clip exploded — fans claimed the coach had lost track of the down entirely.

“I definitely knew it was fourth down,” Quinn insisted after the 23-17 loss. “We were going for it. Somebody on the headset asked if we could kick a field goal after the illegal shift — that’s what I was commenting on.”

The loss dropped Washington to 1-4-1 on the season, and Quinn’s explanation hasn’t stopped the memes. Sometimes the internet decides the story before the coach can tell it.
