Texas Permanently Bans Fan After Viral Confrontation With Florida Players
A Texas Longhorns fan has been permanently banned from the stadium after a viral video showed him screaming obscenities and flashing a middle finger at Florida players following the Gators’ 27-24 win.
Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte announced the ban Tuesday, calling the behavior “unacceptable” in his weekly post. “We pride ourselves on sportsmanship and treating our opponents with respect. This individual’s actions did not reflect those values and will not be tolerated,” he wrote.
The clip exploded on social media as fans condemned the unnamed man, who was recording himself during the confrontation. Florida staff had to hold players back to stop the situation escalating.
Del Conte personally apologized to the University of Florida. The fan will never set foot in Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium again.
